Built in the 1500s to protect waterways and collect dues, you won’t believe the views that can be seen from this beautiful castle. Famous artists have depicted it in their paintings thanks to its unique combination of French architecture and its natural moat.
The National Park
The primary feature of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park is a large natural sandstone arch, but there are gorges, ravines, and even a robber baron rock castle to be found here. You’ll find plenty of hiking opportunities are available, so make sure you bring your camera and some comfortable shoes for this outdoor adventure.
The Observation Towers
Outside the city sit a few observation towers which will give you a view of the city and the rolling hills beyond. It’s a fun way to get to know this community and get a look at the highlands without requiring an entire day trip.
Usti nad Labem was almost completely rebuilt after it was nearly leveled in 1945 by Allied forces, so you won’t find the same level of historical buildings or ancient squares as you will in other European cities. What you will find our somber memorials, breathtaking views, and a chance to experience a community that isn’t always on the tourism radar.
