Saipan, capital of Northern Mariana Islands

Saipan is the largest of the Northern Mariana Islands. As it is a commonwealth of the United States, entry is similar to travel to the mainland U.S. on a holiday. What is unique about the island is that it is organized as a single municipality, so the various villages are treated as neighborhoods instead of as separate communities. You’ll find the best beaches on Saipan are located along the southern and western coasts. For those who like time to bake in...

The Northern Mariana Islands are a commonwealth of the United States.

They consist of 15 islands found in the northwestern Pacific Ocean and include all the islands of the Mariana Archipelago with the exception of Guam, which serves as a separate U.S. territory.

What you’ll find is a combination of Japanese and American cultures fusing with the local Malay influences throughout the islands. One of the best things about a visit to the Northern Marianas is to experience local Chamorro food, which is found in many specialty restaurants. Look for hotel packages that offer guided tours of the island, gear rentals, and other specialty items that help to plan the perfect holiday.

A visit to the Northern Mariana Islands often involves diving and snorkeling. There are beautiful coral reefs waiting to be found here. Because the fighting was quite fierce around the islands during the second world war, there are several shipwrecks right along the coast to explore as well. There is even an occasional tank that can be found close to shore.

The nightlife on the islands involves a lot of karaoke. Many visitors come to the island to enjoy some time gambling as well. After a day of touring the old war bunkers in the national park and seeing the memorials that sprinkle the island, an evening of fun is almost always waiting for you.

The Northern Mariana Islands can offer beautiful sunshine, fun diving opportunities, and many other opportunities to relax. Plan your holiday to include this destination and the effort will be very rewarding indeed.
