A visit to New Orleans is like taking a trip back through time to Colonial France. Although there is a distinctive American feel to the city, the look and rhythm of life on the streets has a European flair to it. Upon arrival, many who visit this coastal city make their way down to the French Quarter. Dining and shopping tend to be highlighted, but don’t miss the haunted house while you walk the streets. Another great place to spend some time in New Orleans is Jackson Square. It is one of the artistic centers of the United States. Artists are always out in the park, working on their craft in some way. The grounds also act as an impromptu gallery most days, giving you the chance to take home a one-of-a-kind piece.

The United States isn’t known for ancient gothic cathedrals or pilgrimage sites, but the St. Louis Cathedral would rival any experience from home. It is a spired 18^th century church with a fantastic painting ceiling and beautifully crafted stained glass. The church is active, so call ahead for tours.

You’ll find numerous museums dedicated to art, colonial wars, and the history of the region will fill out remaining time you may have. New Orleans is a city that helps everyone find their own definition of life. You will enjoy every moment of your time there.

Remember to visit Audubon Zoo

New Orleans, Louisiana is home to the Audubon Zoo, which is one of the nation’s best zoos. There are more than 1,500 animals that come from many different countries worldwide. In fact, when you visit the Audubon Zoo you will see 350 different species of animals, which is simply amazing!

Some of the many animals here are white tigers, rhinos, gorillas, and more reptiles than you can imagine. In one exhibit there are even white alligators, which are pretty rare and something many people have never seen! Kids and adults of all ages really enjoy watching the animal shows with sea lions or the feeding times of the giraffes, Komodo dragons, alligators, and the like.

A great experience is the Embraceable Zoo where endangered domestic animals may be touched and loved. The kids and animals get a lot out of this and it is a great place to get some good photos as well. Another fun place within the Audubon Zoon is the Children’s Zoo. There is a carousel and a Safari Simulator ride that is a lot of fun and can really break up the day of seeing animals. Website
