About Bielsko-Biala

The City

Found in southern Poland, Bielsko-Biala came together as a result of Austria-Hungary dissolving in 1918. Both cities, along the Biala River, came into Poland and formed one city instead of two.

The banks of the river had formed the foundation of a community here since at least the late 15th century.

What you’ll find is Bielsko-Biala is an atmosphere dedicated to Art Nouveau. The landscapes and architecture found within the city are so stunning, in fact, that it has earned the nickname of “Little Vienna.”

A popular stop in the city is the Bielsko-Biala Museum, which is located in the castle of the Dukes of Cieszyn. You’ll find rooms dedicated to life during the time period of the city’s founding centuries ago, with a stunning armory contained on the first floor. You’ll find 300 years of art from the 15th century on as part of the permanent exhibition as well.

St. Nicholas’ Cathedral is stunning in its own right as well. It was originally built around 1443, though it was completely updated in the early 1900s. Architects and artists from Vienna were brought in for the project and the stained-glass windows are simply incredible.

There is also the beautiful Szyndzielnia Mountain, which is located within the borders of the city. You can take a cable car up to the summit if you wish or take advantage of the observation tower there. You’ll find bike routes, a high ropes course, and plenty of other attractions which will keep you busy.

Beautiful Bielsko-Biala is an inviting city that encourages you to explore. Find your way here and you will discover a grand adventure.
