Tajikistan can be found in Central Asia and it is a melting pot of the various cultures that have settled in the region over the years.

It became an independent nation in 1991 when the Soviet Union dissolved. After independence was gained, a 5-year civil war was fought. Since 1997, the country has been politically stable, which has made it a wonderful destination for those who love to explore.

The Fann Mountains are easily the most dynamic part of Tajikistan’s landscape. You’ll find numerous mountaineering opportunities are available, from day treks to full climbing expeditions. The peaks rise over 5000m, allowing for the adventurous to enjoy a sea of clouds at their final destination.

You’ll find rock climbing and horseback riding are common activities. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, there are several apricot orchards that invite you to come take a stroll.

Spending time at the Iskanderkulsky Nature Refuge is another top priority. There are camping opportunities in the refuge and the beautiful turquoise lake is a natural habitat for local wildlife. Birdwatching opportunities here are abundant.

Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan, situated at the confluence of the Vazorb and Kofarnihon rivers. It is a mining community and is home to the national museum, which is where the local culture comes alive.

Whether you come for the scenic landscapes or you wish to explore the urban centers that are offered, Tajikistan is a country that offers its own scenic take on what a perfect holiday should be. You’ll find it to be an amazing destination to explore.
