Djibouti is a small nation that can be found on the Horn of Africa. It was historically part of the Land of Punt and the Kingdom of Aksum, located south of modern-day Eritrea.
Located on some of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, the ports of Djibouti help to control access to the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean.
This small nation experiences a climate that is very hot, arid, but humid all year long. That climate lends to the steaming effects that can be seen at Lake Abhe, which is situated on the border with Ethiopia. Outside of Antarctica, it is the saltiest lake in the world.
